Personal data, what's collected, why and what happens to the data
Information Gathered
Two types of information about users may be gathered:
Information that users provide through optional, voluntary submissions. These are voluntary submissions to receive further information about products or services. Under no circumstances do we divulge any information about an individual user to a third party.
Information we gather through aggregated tracking information derived mainly by tallying page views throughout the sites. This information allows us to better tailor content to readers' needs. Under no circumstances do we divulge any information about an individual user to a third party.
Process for Gathering information
I offer the following free services, which require some type of voluntary submission of personal information by users:
- Get a Quote form submission
You may choose to enter your details to receive further information relating to getting pricing on our products or services. The information gathered from this form is used for identifying your needs and to provide contact information for further communication about products and services as specifically requested.
- Contact Us form submission
You may choose to request further information or ask questions directly from the online enquiry form. The information gathered will be used to make contact and provide answers to questions and not for any other purpose.
I offer the following paid services, which require some type of voluntary submission of personal information by users:
- Bookings and product purchases
When you make a booking or purchase a product I also record your contact details. The information gathered will be used to make contact with you and provide the product or service you have paid for. I do not record or keep bank or credit card details. These details are kept with third party providers that I use to process your payment.
Children
Consistent with the Federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), I will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without requesting parental consent.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
My site may place a text file called a "cookie" in the browser files of your computer. The cookie itself does not contain Personal Information although it will enable me to relate your use of my site to information that you have specifically and knowingly provided. But the only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply yourself. A cookie can't read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites.
You can refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser. If you've set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies, you will receive the warning message with each cookie. You do not need to have cookies turned on to use this site. However, you do need cookies to participate actively in message boards, forums, polling and surveys.
If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year or you may manually clear your cookies.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select "Remember Me", your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article during your interaction, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
